The chemistry beneath the finish
Epoxy is a two-part thermoset. A resin containing epoxide groups is mixed with a hardener (polyamine). The amine hydrogens react with and open the epoxide rings, crosslinking the mixture into a three-dimensional polymer network that can't re-flow when heated. That's why a properly cured epoxy floor doesn't soften under tires, chemicals, or heat.
The body coat's hardness and chemical resistance comes from that crosslinked network. The tradeoff: standard aromatic epoxy is not UV-stable and will yellow in direct sun. That's why every floor we install gets a UV-stable topcoat.
Thickness matched to the job
Residential
Thin coatings 2-5 mils for driveways and patios. Typical garage systems 4-10 mils. Full-flake decorative builds run 16-20 mils with a polyaspartic topcoat.
Commercial
Retail, restaurants, light-industrial spaces, and high-performance commercial floors. Build matched to expected traffic, chemical exposure, and performance requirements.
Industrial
Manufacturing, warehousing, chemical containment. Heavy-duty epoxy mortar systems range 125-375 mils for extreme traffic and impact.

Metallic Epoxy
Reactive metallic pigments suspended in an epoxy carrier produce three-dimensional marble, river, and pearl effects. Popular for residential garages, retail showrooms, restaurants, and feature floors. Sealed with a polyaspartic topcoat for UV stability and abrasion resistance.
Full-Flake Decorative
Broadcast vinyl flake into the body coat to standard residential garage spec. Excellent slip resistance, easy to clean, and a finish that hides minor slab imperfections.
Custom Color Match
Match brand colors, designer specs, or existing materials. Solid colors, multi-color blends, and logo embeds all available.

UV Protection
Standard epoxy can yellow in as little as 3 months of direct Florida sun. Every floor we install gets a UV-stable topcoat to prevent yellowing and chalking.
Vapor Emission Testing
Commercial slabs get ASTM F1869 calcium chloride and F2170 in-situ RH testing. Thresholds: 3 lb/1,000 sf/24 hr and 75% RH unless manufacturer permits more. Over? We install a moisture mitigation layer first.
Coastal Salt Air
Chloride-laden air drives capillary absorption into concrete and corrodes rebar. Coastal projects get salt-resistant primers and sealers to stop the cascade before it reaches the coating.
No prep, no warranty
Every coating system specifies a Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) per ICRI. Skip this step and the coating delaminates — which is why most floor failures trace back to prep shortcuts, not the coating itself.
Diamond Grinding
Preferred for thin-mil epoxy, decorative systems, and most standard coating builds. Modern metal-bond diamond tooling reaches CSP 3, which covers the typical coating profile range. Quieter, less dust, cleaner edges.
Shot Blasting
Required for epoxy mortars, urethane mortars, and thick industrial builds (20+ mils). Propels steel shot at the slab to fracture the surface and create aggressive mechanical bond.
